Linz is best known as the third-largest city of Austria and is also termed as the capital of the state of Upper Austria. This city is well situated in the north centre of Austria, about 30 km (19 mi) south of the Czech border. The main street "Landstraße" starts from the "Blumauerplatz" and leads to "Taubenmarkt" (Pigeonmarket) which is close to the main square. Thus, you can see three things together. In the center of the chief square is the high "Pestsäule" ("plague column") which is also called as "Dreifaltigkeitssäule" (Dreifaltigkeit means Holy Trinity). It was constructed to remember the people who died in the plague epidemics.
You should spend time at the castle and the oldest Austrian church that is Sankt/Saint Martins church. Well, other points of interest are St. Mary's Cathedral (Mariendom), and Roman Catholic which is made in Gothic-Revival style. This style is appreciable in all ways. Then move on to the Pöstlingberg-Kirche which is the pilgrimage church located on the Pöstlingberg hill. The architecture of this city is amazing. You can use the Linz car hire deals.
